Changes That We Made To Our Music Video

Editing Session #7

Date: 16/12/16

This session consisted of us adding the finish touches to our music video, such as ensuring that the cuts were in time and that there was no shaky shots. We did this by adding warp stabiliser, such as to the shot of the fish. We also added a rewind effect to the shot of the couple walking, as we felt that it would be more interesting with this included. Whilst one issue that we encountered was that the warp stabiliser occasionally did not work properly, we were able to fix this through editing such as slowing the shot down or replacing it altogether.

Editing Session #6

Date: 13/12/16

For this editing session, we focused on addressing the feedback that we were given in order to improve our music video. This included using warp stabilisation on shots, such as the close up of leaves, in order to make them less shaky. We also ensured that our rewind effect matches specific parts of the music. For example, the shot of Luca bowling. Finally, we removed the split screen from our music video, and replaced it with superimposition. This all went well, and we did not have any issues except for struggling to ensure the rewind effect was exactly on beat. However, this was quickly fixed.

WWW: The superimposition and cross dissolves used in our music video looked good, and worked to help the video have a smoother transition between shots. This therefore made our music video looked more professional, and conventional for our genre of music.

 

EBI: We removed the split screen and fast eye movement close up, as these do not fit very well into our music video and instead make it appear disjointed and unrelated to the narrative at times.

Digipack Plan

For our digipack, we decided to base the design on two main themes, which we felt were aesthetically pleasing and fitting to the indie pop genre. These were polaroids, and a colour scheme of black and blue. We thought that this would be suitable as indie culture often modernises vintage items, such as polaroid cameras and vinyl records.

Firstly, for the front cover of our album -- the bottom right square of the plan -- we decided to have quite a simple cover, as this is common in indie pop albums, with our artist on the front. However, our artist will not be looking directly at the camera, but will instead be looking off to the left. This is a method that is used by many indie artists, such as James Bay and Halsey.

For the back cover of our album, the bottom middle square, we have decided to contribute to the polaroid theme by having a photograph of a pile of polaroid photos. This will include photos of our artist, and photos of scenery.

For the CD itself, in the top middle square, we decided to style it in the design of a polaroid camera, with the hole in the middle of the CD being the lens. This once again adds to the polaroid theme, and we thought that it would be a quirky and interesting use of the CD's shape and design.

Lastly, for the three other squares of the CD we will have a variety of different designs. For the top right we are going to have a shutter speed photo of the artist, Robin, drawing the letter 'R' in the air with a blue light. This will therefore create the effect of painting with a neon light, which will add to the black and blue theme of our album. For the top left we are going to have one polaroid picture, with a photo of a bath filled with blue flowers and a blue bathbomb. We will then write one of the lyrics of our song, 'Shark' by Oh Wonder, on the photo in black marker. We took this inspiration from typically 'indie' photos online, and therefore felt it would fit well with our artist's image. Finally, for the bottom right we will use a photo of our artist holding a blue polaroid camera up to her face, in order to contribute to the polaroid theme as well as the black and blue colour scheme.

Filming Session #10

This was our last filming session, and only required one shot. This was a shot that involved Ciara and Luca standing together in front of the fish tanks, before Luca walks away, leaving Ciara by herself. This session went well as it was fairly easy to film, and was therefore quite quick as well. The only issue that we did come across is that, as we were in a store, we were not allowed to use a tripod to film. For this reason, the shot may be slightly shaky. We can try to fix it with warp stabiliser, and if this does not work we may have to leave the shot out.

Editing Session #5

Date: 2/12/16

For our fifth editing session, we mainly focused on editing in special effects. This included shots such as the superimposition we used when Ciara is looking into the mirror, the split screen of Ciara and Luca, and the black and white filter over shots of Ciara alone. For the most part these all went very well, and turned out successfully. However, one issue that we had with this editing session is that it took a quite a while to complete these effects as we struggled with some of them. For example, when creating the superimposition, we found that editing this affected some of the shots after it, We therefore had to then fix the shots that had been moved and affected. However, once this was fixed we had no other issues.
